CA Anti-virus may not be as popular as Norton and MacAFee. But is it as effective?
CA Anti-virus was created by Computer Associates and has been around for a while. With the more popular brands of anti-virus software floating around, how is anyone going to know if whether CA is a good choice when it comes to protecting your computer?
Pros:
1. You can choose which features you want to use. For example, if you feel that you don't need Automatic Email Scanner, you can just simply turn it off in the main window. There will not be any annoying messages warning you about features being turned off.
2. CA does not slow down your computer unlike more popular anti-viruses such as Norton. CA is known to occupy very few resources.
3. CA has been praised for fast scanning speed compared to big company anti-viruses. The time it takes to scan the entire computer is lower than most popular competitors.
Cons:
1. The CA website does not seem to have very detailed information on how to troubleshoot some problems. Sometimes chatting with somebody from the troubleshooting staff can be difficult.
2. Some users may experience instability when first installing the program on Vista machines. But this rarely happens.
Overall, CA Anti-virus could be a promising choice for anti-virus protection, although they could improve their technical support. It can be the solution for computer users that need a cheap, but effective, anti-virus software.
