How to: Repair Chinese Apad - Android Tablet

Problem: Chinese Android tablet hangs on boot. Android logo appears and then freezes. It shuts down after few seconds.

Reason: The Android installation is corrupted.

Solution: Reflash / install a new android firmware / OS.

Applies to: Flytouch Android Tablet, Epad, Apad, Iped

The one I repaired has the following specifications:
  • VIA chipset 8505 / 300 mhz
  • 256 mb memory
  • 2 GB storage
  • with camera
  • vibrates at startup (unique for flytouch model)

What you need:
At least 128 mb microSD card

Step-by-step Guide:
1. Download this file if you have the 256 mb version: http://www.filefront.com/17277089/EPAD256.1.988.3k.7z


2. Extract the script folder to your memory card. If your memory card is drive e, it should look like these: e:\script\

3. While the tablet is off, insert the card to the card reader /slot at the bottom of your tablet.

4. Turn it on and wait for instructions. It will say when to remove the memory card.

5. The unit will turn off. Turn it on again. That's it. You should see the Android logo by now and wait for it to boot.

If the unit won't turn on after flashing, it means that you used the wrong firmware. Download other firmware for your Android Tablet.

    i used the links given but the rom for the 128 doesn't seem compatible with my epad. Now the thing won't work. Help

    I'm just curious, why was there an Android installation error in the first place? Isn't it that the APad (Android Tablet) is installed with Android OS upon purchase? Does it mean that the error came from the factory? Hmm...

    my apad android2.2 always shows something like this "THE PROCESS.COM.PROCESS.MEDIA HAS STOPPED UNEXPEDTELY.PLS TRY AGAIN." how can i repair this sir/madam? what are the remedies for this? pls contact me at my e-add tahirihritarita@yahoo.com pls help me to repair.

    I JUST PUT MY MICRO SD MEM WHEN THE ANDROID IS OFF THEN I TURN IT ON WHOLA IT'S WORKING AGAIN!!!

    @abdel, go to settings and see the manual on how to rest to factory settings then try to connect the wifi and see it will connect again

    Hi all, I'm attempting the process with the 256 MB version. I started the tablet with the SD card containing the script folder and for quite some time all I see is the Android logo and the OS version in the bottom right: Android2.2.

    How long should the process take? Is what I'm seeing normal?

    When everytime i chhose the icon and press it , it was a moment snow apperance when jumping to next page . When the snow apperance appear, the screen was back to normal when i put some power to knock IT at the back . What is the problem of this . Thanks .

    One day na? It means, di compatible yung niloload mong file. It should not take 30 minutes to complete.

    wow- I'm not alone. My tablet will boot and run some software, but I get a 'force close' message on things like the calendar and GPS and contacts.
    I don't have a slot in my computer for the tiny card - can it be fixed by downloading something onto a USB stick???
    any advice would be appreciated.

    I have the exact same model as that shown in the pictures. The Android robot is frozen upon start-up. I've followed the directions as well as appreciated Grascia's comments. Nothing happens. It is as if the pad will not read the card. I've reset the pad (paper clip into small hole near center on long side between the microphone and the Volume button), and tried again. No avail. I would appreciate suggestions.
