Microsoft to make a “Major Windows 7 Announcement” April 10th

According to PC Pro Microsoft is going to have some kind of major announcement on the 10th. Would could Microsoft possibly be announcing on the 1oth? Could it be the RC release date? Nah that isn’t a “major” announcement. Yes, it’s important but I don’t think companies generally consider a release date announcement a major one. No this will be an announcement of some Windows 7 feature we haven’t really heard about yet. PC Pro seems to think that it will have something to do with compatibility. Now this could be the case. Compatibility was problematic with Vista but all these problems were mostly caused by bad code or just very deep code (like virus scanners). Maybe from the business perspective they could have something along these lines but as to what it actually is I don’t think anyone can really guess at this point. I really just hope I am right and it is more then just a release announcement (or release) for the RC. Actually I take it back release of the RC would be awesome, but not an announcement of a release date.
