Backing up your data is important, regardless of what type of computer you’re using. But remember that a netbook is just another notebook computer so if you’re thinking about backing up the hard drive of your netbook, you have the same options available to you as any other computing device.
You can burn the data to CD or DVD using an external DVD burner or you could transfer it to another PC via either the wired Ethernet port or Wi-Fi wireless network point and burn it to disc that way.
You can copy it to an external hard drive or flash drive connected to one of the USB ports and then copy that to another hard drive.
You could even use a network attached storage (NAS) box, connect it to your home network and either wired or wirelessly transfer data to it for safe keeping.
Whatever method you use, the best and most reliable option is to have multiple copies of your data. One copy is no guarantee that your data is backed up and no copy can be considered a backup if you haven’t at least tested that the data is actually there on that backup disc or drive.
These days, hard drives are the cheapest storage options for high-capacity data however optical discs are still convenient and easily movable. Archiving your data on flash drives is not recommended as these devices are not typically used for this purpose and can be easily erased.
