Apple Safari Browser 4.0 Beta Review

I know Apple Safari browser 4.0 beta is already out there for some time. Don’t have time to review it until today.

Last Safari version 3.0 on my computer was 1 and half year ago. Frankly, Safari version 3.x not stable even with updated patch. Safari 3.0 always hung and need to force end task it process.

Apple made lots of improvement in its Safari 4.0 beta. Download here (~26mb) and give it a try. Its size 300% more than Firefox (~7mb) and still no plugin support. Yet, still a good web browser too!

Safari 4 Features

Why you should give a try on Safari 4? It made browsing more beautiful and smarter. Also, don’t overlook the nitro engine, load website in fast speed too.

Of course the significant upgrade is Top Sites and Cover Flow features.

Top Sites - You can preview favorite websites at a glance, whenever you open new tab or window. You can set top sites preview in small (24 sites), medium (12 sites) and large (6 sites).

It means you manage to browse websites with a click, no keyboard interaction. Perhaps make your surfing experience faster, easier. Don’t you think this feature has already in Opera browser some years ago?

Cover Flow
- I believe you not new with cover flow. It work the same like iTunes. You can flip through website previews in history and bookmarked sites. It make our browsing more fun isn’t it?

Last but not least, another useful upgrade is Tabs on Top. The tabs are now located at top of the browser window, instantly provide more space for website view. There are 150 more features here.

So far Safari 4 do not hang like its version 3.x. Anyway, I still prefer Firefox as my primary web browser, and keep Safari as secondary.

No doubt Safari 4 has lots of upgrade on its user interface, but does not suit my needs. I don’t need fancy interface and effects but many plugins!
