How to Turn Off the Security Alerts in the Windows Taskbar in Vista

If you have recently turned off User Account Control, or you’re not very quick at updating your antivirus software, then you should already know about the security alert icon in the taskbar.

How can you miss it? It’s a little red shield that is constantly taunting you, begging you to fix your “security problems.” For regular consumers this might be handy, but geeks like use don’t like to be reminded about such issues right?
To turn it off simply right click the annoying shield and select Open Security Center, or get to security center any other way you wish (either from Control Panel, or by running wscui.cpl from the command prompt or search box) and click on Change the way Security Center alerts me which is on the left.

From here you can either disable it completely, leave it alone, or leave the icon there but disable the pop-up balloon.
