How to Add Windows XP Computer to Vista’s Network Map

Vista’s Network Map provides a diagram showing computers on your home network and how they’re linked to each other.

To view the map, click Start, type Network and Sharing Center in the Start Search box, and click the corresponding entry.

Chances are you don’t see any of your WinXP systems on the network map because the feature uses a protocol called LLTD (Link Layer Topology Discovery) that WinXP doesn’t understand. Fortunately, there is an update that will add LLTD support to WinXP systems, allowing them to appear on the network map, and its available here.
